bovtm_bryn_hammond_large.jpgThe Battle of Cambrai on the 20th November 1917 saw the first large scale use of tanks in history.

The attack came close to breaking the German lines, and this success is traditionally credited to the 400 tanks employed by the British. In this lecture Hammond will look at all aspects of the battle and argue it was not the tanks that surprised the Germans that day - but brilliant innovations in artillery techniques.

Lecture commences at 19.30pm and Museum doors will open at 18:00, giving you an hour to browse through the Museum. Refreshments are also available in our café. Please note that seats are allocated on a first come, first served basis.
